The Final SayThe BadWhere the movie was incredible and a fun ride all around, this game can be frustrating and at times repetitive. The Mummy PC Game is making the jump from it's PlayStation cousin, and it isn't doing it very well. While the sound effects are great, and the character voices are matched nicely, sometimes the soundtrack does warble. This really takes away from the game as it is very noticeable. Also frustrating and noticeable is the fact you can't change the controls. You are stuck with what they give you, which is one of the major beefs I've always had with console games. Another beef with console games carries over into the ability to save. Those who would find this game interesting would be those that conquered Tomb Raider I, II, III, IV and V and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. At least in those games, though, you could save in the middle of the level. That's right. You have to wait until the level is complete before you can save, quite similar to what you come up against in console games. The GoodWhile there is some bad, there is also some good. I liked how the game handled after I got used to the clumsy controls. The number of baddies is good and can really keep you occupied. Watch out for gangs of mummies, though. They tend to overrun you after a while. Plus the game keeps up with the events of the first movie of The Mummy. And you get to meet all of the original characters. Universal, Konami, and Rebellion released this game just in time to see witness to the release of the sequel, The Mummy Returns. The Last WordIf you're really into massive amounts of gruesome mummy slaughter and like to run around Egyptian pyramids, you might like this game. If you loved the movie The Mummy, you might like this game. If you like the type of action and adventure that Lara Croft and Indiana Jones have brought to the gaming world then...... You'll think this game is a turkey of a cake walk. This game isn't that bad. It's a decent enough engine and good enough plot line to keep anyone interested. For about half an hour at a time. The CostI admit, I liked the movie The Mummy. So when I saw the game for PC, I had to have it. I don't regret it, but I don't play it much nowadays. My cost: $25.99 Canadian Killer Screen Shots |
